Sit Up N Listen Dog Training Greater Atlanta Area. Dog-Training-Big-and-Toy Together. Tony and Vinnie, cute papillons, are one month into training and look at them go! Carmel and X-press love the little guys. Carmel and X-press are seasoned veterans acting as doggy role models for the little guys. The park is the perfect place to extend training fundamentals while having fun. We visit many parks and other fun places learning that good manners in public can be an everyday event regardless of breed.
I made this video to hopefully inspire dog owners that having fun, learning, and going places with your dogs be a balanced, positive and fun experience.
Alot of people ask me "How do you define balance?" Everyone has a different definition. I define balance as my dogs having a good time and I'm having a good time. What does that mean? The dogs love riding in the car, listening to music, playing ball and frisbee, running around "free", and training: "come", "sit", "place". They love training because it gives them purpose--a job (focus). If I take a day off from training my dogs particularly Carmel will present herself in front of me waiting for a command. She is happiest working and having fun. She has a favorite park out of all the ones we play at too!
Balance for me is a quiet time. All of my dogs are trained to be quiet. Toy breeds are well known for their "yappy times". Someone said there are "papillons" and "yapillons". I'm told by people when I'm out and about that I have "papillons". They were definitely "yapillons" when I got them though!
Balance also includes "listening". I came up with my company name Sit Up N Listen because I noted how few dogs out in public really listen. I hear dog owners screaming "no", "no", "no", or if it's a big dog and they are unable to control where the dog has its focus they just drop the leash and let the dog take off. I've wrangled many loose dogs at the park. Dog owners report that "safety" is very important in their relationship with their pet. But the actions of pet owners definitely present a different picture. Please volunteer with your local pet organizations to help address responsible pet ownership (spaying & neutering).
